Gaynor hitting stride in Class A | Daily News; Bowling Green, Ky. | Find Articles at BNET
Last year, Western Kentucky's then-third baseman Wade Gaynor attended a couple of Bowling Green Hot Rods games and dreamed of playing in Todd Helton Jersey Bowling Green Ballpark as a professional.
That dream became a reality last week, when Gaynor, a third-round Major League Baseball draft pick by the Detroit Tigers in June, returned to town as a member of the West Michigan Whitecaps.
The series against the Hot Rods, a Midwest League rival of the Whitecaps, had special meaning for the Hawesville native.
"I was hoping I'd be in this situation," Gaynor said Wednesday before the opener of the three-game series. "It feels good to be back in Kentucky and Bowling Green. It's just great being here."

Gaynor's excitement was apparent to his new club.

Last year, we made a regional and made a little bit of a run. I check every night what all the guys do, their stats, the outcome of the game. They are doing really well and I don't see any stopping them."
After being drafted by the Tigers, Gaynor jumped at the chance to play pro ball and joined Detroit's short-season Class A team in Oneonta, N.Y., in the New York-Penn League. But Gaynor struggled to find his stroke, hitting just .192.
"A lot of people ask about the struggles last summer, but there is a new confidence whenever you Authentic Brandon Inge Jersey start a season (in West Michigan)," Gaynor said. "You know you are going to be there the whole year - 140 games - versus a college and a short season, which kind of breaks it up a little bit. I'm confident. I'm excited about the whole year and I'm just ready to get out there and play some games."
Gaynor said making the jump to the pros has been an adjustment, with the most challenging part simply playing every day. The level of competition is also significantly greater.
"Professionally, if you look at our roster, I think we have 12 guys from the Latin nations," Gaynor said. "You're playing against the whole world. We play against guys from Taiwan, Japan, Venezuela, the Dominican Matt Joyce Jersey - (compared to) college, which is great players, but they are usually from the states. Gaynor appears to be turning the corner after last year's rough start. Heading into the weekend, Gaynor was hitting .235 with one homer and three RBIs. In the three games against the Hot Rods, Gaynor went 3-for-15.
"He's a great kid and a good player," DePastino said. "He's a very good third baseman, with good hands over there at third, and he has a good bat. Similarly, Howard's RBI totals stem from the on-base skills of the batters preceding him. Gonzalez signed a two-year, $12 million contact this offseason, and players said the caliber of the spread often correlates to a player's salary. Many times, pizza is considered sufficient.

Big leaguers have secured reputations among their peers through classy contributions. Red Sox pitcher John Lackey once bought six $500 meals during a three-day rehab stint, and former great Roger Clemens once refurbished the Lexington (Ky.) It can work the other way too. While taking care of the minor- leaguers isn't mandatory, a faux pas in the minors can become a major headache.
"I've heard stories about guys that haven't done it, and they get hazed when they get back" to the majors, Salazar said. "Guys give them a hard time. Like, 'You're down there making $20,000 a week and you can't buy these guys dinner?' "
Interim manager Bobby Dickerson said the meals were considered even more of a treat during his playing days. "I'll say this," he added. "I'd never had lobster in a clubhouse before."

Sadly, FBI is largely unappreciated On Nov. 26, an Islamic terrorist thought he was detonating a large bomb at the lighting of the Christmas tree in downtown Portland. Mohamed Mohamud was unsuccessful in this effort because men and women of the FBI network read his e-mails and supplied him with dummy equipment so that they could arrest him. But for the work of these men and women who drink Folgers coffee, like baseball, and have no idea who won best picture at the latest film festival, there would be a lot of very cool and very dead Portlanders today. Racism is no answer to terrorism
Now, more than ever, we must encourage our fellow citizens to embrace the Portland-Vancouver areas Islamic community. Warning is free pass to keep cheating
I do not understand the 10-day warnings that are occasionally issued to drivers of fraudulent vehicle licenses from out of state. We have a law that says new residents Carlos Gonzalez Jersey have 30 days to get their license issued in this state after moving here. The 10-day warning allows them to wait until they get caught again. That could be months or years from now or maybe never. College parking woes getting worse
Parking at Clark College has been a problem for many years, but recently it has gotten further out of hand. Enrollment has increased, but there has been no significant change in the parking lots. Students miss class or are late because they cannot park. Because of the limited parking, driver and car safety is also becoming a danger.
Students get to campus nearly an hour before class to search for parking spots, yet still are unable to do so. Drivers get frustrated and are leaving threatening notes on car hoods and yelling at others with vulgar language, which are just a few of the complications Clarks parking has caused. Its time to stop ignoring this problem and make improvements to Clarks parking before it Rockies Carlos Gonzalez Jersey gets any worse.

Support effort to renounce health bill
Did our president promise us that if we like our Authentic Todd Helton Jersey insurance, the new health care law will let us keep it? I suggest another weapon to fight fraud, namely voting against any politician who supported or supports the health care law or any other law that threatens our freedoms under the Constitution.

Presidents legacy is in jeopardy
Knowing what kind of President Barrack Obama has become begs the question What kind of ex-president will he become? Will he embrace his post-presidency years with the same grace and decorum as have the Todd Helton Jersey former President George H.W. and George W. Bush? Or will he adopt the Jimmy Carter model by incessantly sniveling, sniping and savaging his White House successors?
Unfortunately, Obama has already displayed many unseemly Carter- like tendencies. His predecessor, George W. Bush, can attest to that. I had assumed that Carters moribund legacy was destined for resurrection once he left the White House, but time has proven me wrong. Carter is arguably both the worst president and also the worst ex-president in American history. Wage freeze reasonable
I am a 74-year-old widow living on a fixed income of Social Security and my employment retirement benefit, both of which are much lower than when I was employed.
